In this edition, we're shining a light on our fantastic volunteers, whose dedication and kindness make such a difference every day. Much of what they do happens behind the scenes and often goes unnoticed, but their contribution is invaluable.
We're proud to be supporting the #WednesdaysWithoutUs campaign, which highlights just how much volunteers contribute to charities and the VCFSE sector across the country. Their impact is truly remarkable. In the last year alone, our volunteers contributed the equivalent of £19,000 in hours (based on the National Minimum Wage.) We simply couldn't do what we do without them, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.
What Our Volunteers Have Been Up To
Food Collectors - We currently have 11 dedicated Food Collectors collecting donations from 10 supermarkets, helping to ensure we can continue to provide 3 meals a day for our Lindley House clients.
Student Counsellors - We have five student counsellors completing their 100-hour placements with us. We're especially delighted that Vickie Mulcahy enjoyed her experience so much that she has chosen to stay on as a volunteer post-qualification. We also have a fully qualified and highly experienced volunteer counsellor who oversees and advises us on our counselling programme.
Peer Link Workers - Our former Buddy role has now evolved into our Peer Support programme. We'll be sharing more information about this exciting development very soon.
Craft Group - Our fantastic long-standing volunteer, Chris Burton, has launched a weekly craft group at Lindley House which has quickly become a huge success with our clients. Turn the page to see some wonderful photos of the amazing creations they've been making!
Trustees - We are fortunate to have a dedicated Board of 10 Trustees, who generously volunteer their time, skills and expertise to help guide and support our organisation.
Allotment Volunteers - Our incredible team of four allotment volunteers, who turn up every Wednesday, have worked incredibly hard to completely transform this project led by talented Chantal Davey. Their hard graft has created a welcoming and calm wellbeing space for our team and clients to enjoy.
Community Events Team - We've recently recruited a fantastic team of volunteers who worked incredibly hard at Arc in the Park and will be representing us at local events throughout the year. If you see them out and about, be sure to stop and say hello!
